Camp!

Okay, I must confess something. I have never been camping before.
In my backyard does not count.
So the American Girl camp out and horse back riding thing was saturday to sunday.
We got to the barn and were split up into three groups. Basically i re-learned a lot of stuff i already know.
But I got to ride. And no one else knew how to do the posting trot except for me so I was a demonstration. :P There was a woman riding her beautiful friesian gelding on the other end of the arena. I dont know if I was jealous, more like mesmerized. I've never seen one properly groomed and in action before. It was beautiful. Friesians are one of my favorite breeds so...

Of course, like always I managed to get the horse that wanted to test me to see if he could get away with something. Every time i asked him to stop he tried to pull the reigns away and walk on.

After that we went on a hike.
A very long hike. On the bridle path full of hills and stuff.
We were so sore and so exhausted when we finally got to the camp site.
We set up tents next. My friend and i were disapointed because we were under the impression we were getting a big tent. The bigs tents could comfortably hold three people. but each of the counselors plus a stray mom each got their *own* huge tent. So we had to share a small one. But no one showed us HOW to set up a small one because we were going to have a big one. So after we finished that we figured out there was enough room for us and we wouldn't be crowded but we still wanted that big tent. :P

We ate a very delicious dinner. I dont know if my siblings would eat it because it involved plenty of vegetables but with the meat and sour cream and cheese it was just so good. It was like home made chipotle. Not that I've been to Chipotle before.
ANyways, we had Navajo burritos and wild rice and stuff....
The one seasonal counselor and I had made fried bread that morning at the nature center and it wasn't quite as good after several hours.

So we chilled out for a while and when it started getting dark we sang some songs and then went on a night hike. It was so awesome. It was really dark and we were all walking into the forest, it was great.
A lot of the girls said they were scared. i think nervous would be a better word. :P But the one girl held on to my hand the whole time.
When I was younger I never had any friends that liked to hold my hand so it was like re-living my child hood with the friends I never had. :P The hike was great, I've never done anything like that before, the night was beautiful and i had a lot of fun.
I believe on the hike i heard somebody say "I like the Emilys" but im not sure...
Back at the camp it was back to not existing anymore but I guess its better off that way anyways. I can't be 11 forever right? ;)

Then we made s'mores and the girls went to bed. We finally went to bed at 11-11:45. I slept unusually well. The ground beneath me was perfectly flat and I was so comfortable I just conked out. I had some weird dream which is pretty normal for me :P and only woke up once when it started freezing outside. Then I burrowed farther into my sleeping bag, pulled the top over my head and went back to sleep.

In the morning at about 7:05 the one counselor woke us up with her indian flute which was so nice. She isnt the best flute player but still. Practice makes perfect.
So I got up, pulled some jeans on and my sweatshirt.
Eventually all the girls got picked up and everything got loaded up and we all headed back to the nature center.

We got back and the new guy helped us out a whole lot. He was really nice. Ussually its kind of awkward when you dont know somebody but he's just a laid back guy and really funny so it was nice to have his help. There were so many tents to put away and fold up and air out and everything. It was crazy. Eventually they all got put away and the snake got new water and the turtle got to birdwatch.

I am so sore. :P But in that weird rewarding sort of way that i dont feel too often.
I wish there was a nature center down the street from us or something because i would love to hike but...

I would love to get a job at the stables we went to but I just got that rich snobby vibe from a lot of the little girls that work there and the boarders. Maybe I've just read too many horse books but...

The nature center would also be a fun place to get a job at. Everybody there is so nice... its really cool.

But anyways.

Snap back to reality.
