The Black Parade

Today I saw a music video on TV for one of My Chemical Romance's newer songs.
I really like their newer stuff. Some of the songs are sad but still...
Their latest album - The Black Parade - is a story about a man who is dying and eventually does die of his illness in the story. The idea of a whole album being a story fascinated me and I looked it up on wikipedia. Gerard Way, the lead singer, said:

"...the words "black" and "parade" made you think of death but [also] celebration. And that's what the record felt like, it felt like a celebration of life and death..."

One of my favorite things about their newer work is that they added more guitar. Everyone loves a good guitar solo and guitarist Ray Toro really brought it with what I've heard from this album. AND he managed to stop looking like he'd stuck his finger in an electrical socket. ;D But there is a lot more guitar and in my opinion, the guitar pieces really make the whole thing better for me.

On top of that, they got a new look just for The Black Parade. Gerard cut his hair and dyed it blonde while the others (save for drummer Bob Bryar) dyed theirs darker -i think?- and they're ussually seen in black and white marching band uniforms. I, personally, like it a lot.

Gerard Way never fails to capture my attention when I watch MCR music videos. He sings with so much emotion you just don't want to look away, what with his jerky movements and constantly changing expressions. When I saw Helena I wanted to cry because he just looked so sad. In the music video I saw earlier today, Famous Last Words, theres still that same thing about Gerard that just grabs you and doesnt let you go until its over. You feel his pain and his sadness and then that one single moment when everything seems okay and he relaxes... It just amazes me how much emotion emanates from this one guy. Sometimes he's twisting and twitching, other times he's pulling at his face... its just crazy. And then there are the moments he looks absolutely insane and you're either terrified of him you find it funny. Or thats just me...

Anyways, I just thought that was worth a blog post. You're probably all tired of reading about my complaining about my teeth stuff anyways ;D

Um...perhaps he needs less eye makeup!? you would see more emotion in his eyes....i guess it is better than other stuff i have heard....

Billy Corgan founded Smashing Pumpkins, a pretty good band in their own right.
