The Office

One of our new favorite shows is The Office. Basically its about... an office, Dunder-Mifflin. They are a paper company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. And the show is about what goes on and all that fun stuff. Of course this would be boring without interesting characters. There are a lot of them... but you get used to it.

First of all there is the manager, Michael Scott. His goal is to be everybody's friend but he is rude, egotistical, narcissistic, and doesnt care about anyone but himself. He's always humiliating the poor intern (and hitting on him?) but Michael has a thing going with his boss. Supposedly. Michael is the kind of person you love to hate... Or just hate. I'm not sure how I feel about him, lol. But he's a big jerk.

Dwight Schrute is the most bizarre person. Ever. He's funny looking and just... weird. He lives on a twenty(?) acre beet farm with his brother. He's got a purple belt in some sort of karate, he knows several languages (i think) and he's a survivalist nerd sort of person. He practically idolizes Michael and would do anything for him. Dwight is rather gullible though and has been fooled many many times.

Then there is Jim Halpert. He's the sweet, funny guy who always finds something fun to do when he's bored. Such somethings have included: Messing with Dwight's head, holding the Office Olypmics, and scheming with his bestest friend, Pam. It's obvious he likes Pam but there are complications you'll find out later.

Pam Beesly is the receptionist. Her desk and Jim's desk are conveniently located close to each other. She doesn't really fit in with the other ladies in the office and has the most in common with Jim -- whom she may have feelings for. But Pam got engaged (to someone else) three or four years ago and it took them a while to even set a date.

Roy works in the warehouse. He is also engaged to Pam. Roy is often heard complaining about Pam and the small things she does and its quite obvious that Jim is staying out of it but he likes those things Pam does. Roy is basically an insensitive jerk.

Ryan is probably my favorite character. He's the intern and he goes to business school. The poor guy is constantly doing things for Michael or being insulted by Michael or going out of his way because Michael asked him to. Not to mention being creeped out by Michael. He's sort of quiet and laid back and we don't always hear a lot from him.

Phyllis is the shy, quiet, soft spoken older lady. There isnt a whole lot I can think to write about Phyllis...

Stanley The Manly as Michael calls him, and he's either working hard or doing cross word puzzles. He's got a dry sense of humor and doesnt like taking crap from other people.

Toby. Poor, poor Toby. He works in the back and isn't often heard from. He's divorced and his insensitive boss never lets him forget it. Toby is a rather lonely, sad sort of person.

Kevin is weird. He's like... on the verge of retarded. Sometimes he says and does stupid stuff and he isnt the brightest person.

Meredith has a kid and she is secretly an alcoholic but she goes to a quitting thing I think. She drives an ugly mini van and there's not a whole lot to say about Meredith either.

Oscar is often the butt of Michael's jokes. He works with Angela and Kevin in accounting.

Angela is a quiet, strict, and not very friendly. She has a weird obsession with cats and pictures of babies dressed up as adults. She is secretly in a relationship with Dwight which is the last thing anyone would expect.

Creed almost got fired but managed to convince Michael to fire someone else who was not a main character.
Kelly works in the back with Toby but Toby had to move to the other side of the cubicle wall due to an "allergy". Kelly talks a LOT and loves to gossip.

So yeah... its a great show with great actors. It's funny and all the characters are different and relatable with different kinds of people.
Im not sure exactly when its on. Thursdays supposedly but thats when there arent other shows on -- i THINK. We just recently became interested in it and have just mostly been watching the episodes on NetFlix so... yeah.

Dude, if my sisters saw this blog post they would love you forever. Especially Sarah. :p They've been over-obsessed with this show since the beginning of the third season. I admit, the show's funny, but they NEVER STOP TALKING ABOUT IT EVER.

And it's such a shock that Sarah wants to go to the HT Conference in Pennsylvania next year. Y'know, because it's in Scranton. :p
