Technical Difficulties

These past 2 weeks I've been having lots of trouble with my school website.
I've been getting frustrated with new curriculum, new online class software, I cant even send emails. Which is bad since I have assignments I have to EMAIL to my teachers that are due. So of course NOW I'm behind.

So I finally called tech support about this since it hasnt cleared up on its own.
The guy talked me through everything to do with internet explorer and then when it still didn't work he tried to connect to my computer. (I was prepared and had changed my wallpaper from Ryan the Intern to some boring blue design.) When he couldnt connect to my computer he asked me to go to "Add/Remove Programs" and read off everything on the list.
Um. Yeah. So I finally got to something he didnt recognize and he's like
"What is THAT?" "Um... I have no idea" "Uninstall it"
We'd been on the phone for at least twenty minutes and still nothing.

So we were getting closer to things I actually DID know what they were and I started stalling for time because I had started to get the impression I wasnt supposed to have those on there.
So I was all like "Um.... uh.... well... um..."
And he let me know I could spell it if I couldnt say it.
So finally, before we got to those programs (phew!), he told me to restart my computer because the connection thing was all messed up.
And he told me to start in safe mode with networking.
Whatever that means.

Then he asked me how I logged in.
So I told him.
And he about fell out of his chair.
"You have a thing called (home computer name here)?!?!"
"Um. yeah its our home computer... my dad -- " oops.
"No Ohdela? No Administrator?"
"Uh... nope."

Then he was really getting upset. Not upset upset, just... yeah.
He gave me the schpeel because he was probably fed up with me by now. Or my dad, Im not sure which.
"Well I dont know what your dad did but its ALL messed up! You cant have any software other than what you need for school and no other accounts and blah blah blah"

I kind of think my dad sort of maybe knows what he's doing...
Didnt say that though. Obviously...

But do they seriously expect kids who own their own computers to JUST use it for school? I mean come on. Almost every kid these days has at least one email address and instant messenger names and... yeah.

So he's gonna send me some disks so I can totally start over from scratch. (-falls over and dies-)
Gah. All my bookmarks... my stuff... gone. T_T
So i figure I'll just talk to my dad and see if he can fix it BEFORE i blow my computer up and start all over.

Its such a pain. This year so far (the first couple weeks anyways) has not been that great. I dont like the new curriculum, I'm getting behind because I cant email and Internet Explorer (Which you HAVE TO USE FOR SCHOOL OR ELSE) was running incredibly slow.... Its just starting to be overwhelming again... I'm starting to wish we lived someplace with a nice highschool because it would probably just be easier... and I would have friends. None of my classes this year half less than 50 kids. Which isnt that great because when everyone tries to participate its just a mess. Hopefully it gets better as the problems get all worked out.
