you are familiar
yay for random song titles :] and yay for random update posts

Yesterday I had an orthodontist appointment. Last month I got my expander off and I was SO excited I forgot to blog about it :D However yesterday I got some new bands on that connect most of my teeth together AND i got two packages of rubber bands because i need to center my top teeth a little bit. So i have this rubber band attaching my top teeth to my bottom teeth on the right side of my mouth. its a lot of fun. Yesterday was great, i was really excited because my orthodontist said that after i was done with the rubber band they would be finishing up. I am almost done with braces. :D Its been about nine or ten months since I got them on but over two years since the whole process started. Almost two and a half years. it certainly doesnt feel that long, thats for sure. I can't wait to see how great my teeth look without all the metal and rubber in the way xD
and these are my rubber bands. Made by Mercedes, go figure xD my dad said its the only Mercedes I'll ever own xD

In other news, I am participating in National Novel Writing Month. You may have noticed the box in the sidebar pimping their website and keeping track of my word count. For those who have no idea what Nanowrimo is, i'll explain xD Nanowrimo is a national event where people all over the country write a novel in the month of November. The goal is to get to 50,000 words by the end of the month. No editting, no perfecting, no worrying about quality. Its to get you to write more than you may have on your own and to hopefully reach the goal and finish your novel. So far I have a little over 17,000 words but I'm behind :[ To read more about it you can click on the picture or the widget on my sidebar.
The coolest thing is that in December, everyone who reaches 50,000 words will have the opportunity to have a copy of their book published and mailed to them after the editting process. That sounds pretty freaking sweet to me. ;]
Today I attended an online college fair. It was really confusing at first but I got the hang of it. Basically it was kind of pointless to me since I already know what I want to major in, I just need the school. But they did have some quite informative live videos about the ACTs and SATs, and financial aid and stuff like that. It was kind overwhelming to think about. In two years (hopefully? lol) I'll be getting ready to graduate. I just have to find a good art/photography school in Ohio somewhere. I dont think I want to go out of state but thats apparently where most of the cool art schools are...
Moving right along... Fall Out Boy is releasing their new album titled Folie a Deux, december 16th. Pete Wentz, being the emo genius he is, has hidden five golden tickets in the pre-order cds. Yesterday he revealed the prize for one of the tickets is a hoodie, theres only one hoodie like this in existence apparently, from the music video for their single I would assume. He posted the thing about the hoodie with the video so I THINK that must be where its from. But I don't know. I'm preordering my cd tommorow. :]

Speaking of music I found some freaking awesome new bands thanks to my dad who introduced me to RadioU, an apparently Christian rock/occasional rap station located in Westerville, Ohio. I might have to do a post about some bands later but for right now I especially recomend Krystal Meyers, The Classic Crime and Fireflight.

Speaking bands and music xD I found the most awesome mp3 player. Its a Sony because I love my sony walkman so much. However it no longer holds enough music :P I found out that these days I can get an 8gig mp3 player that also plays video for $110. Mine cost $100, oh and its 2gig and doesnt play video or anything like that, lol. So this thing is next on my to-buy list. After I give my mom the $12 for the FOB album. xD And for some reason I want to spend the extra $5 and get some iPod earbuds off amazon just because i think they look cool xD But I dont want to spend the extra money for the iPod, lol. plus, mine is cooler anyways x3
I also think it would be smart to invest in one of the spiffy cases they sell. with my luck the screen would get broken.
SPEAKING OF SPENDING MONEY, I found out I can get my camera cleaned at a nearby camera store for only $30. That sounds good to me. xD So i can sit back and relax and when I have an extra $30 hanging around I'll get that done...
One more thing, I promise.
I started fund raising for Higher Things already. I decided to take charge this time and say "hey we have to get fund raising now" since last year we almost didnt have enough. This year we have double the kids going including me (which equals four kids, lol) so we have to do more fund raising but with our early start I think we can get it covered. Right now Im selling candy bars - most of which probably got sold to my family xD - and another family did some work for our pastor. We're going to do a bake sale at the end of the month and do a christmas craft/cookie sale next month. (Can you believe its almost Christmas already?!)
So yeah, Im uber excited for this years Higher Things. Theres at least four people going that I really really want to meet and I cant wait :] JULY HERE I COME. lol.
Okay I lied, I have one more thing.
I think I want to get my ears pierced again xD
okay im done, for real. honest.
except we got a new furnace. its really nice not stepping out of the bathroom out of a shower and getting hypothermia xD
SHUTTING UP NOW.

i got mad skills
I had the most awesome photography project today xD
I had to paste my head onto someone else's body.
And they said I could use someone I admired.
SO.
I did Hayley Williams, lead vocalist of Paramore.
I KNOW i know, Im all pale and she's all orangey colored, lol
I couldnt figure out how to fix that.
My face is actually backwards because her head was tilted the opposite way mine was xD

Aaaand.
I did Michael Phelps. LOL xDDD
I dont think I have to even say anything about this one xD

I'm not dead...
Lol, no I am not...
I was gone for four days on a home school retreat at the seminary in Fort Wayne
Originally my whole family was going to go but there was a change of plans and we werent going to go, I was pretty disappointed. But a family we know offered to take me and I got to go after all. :]
It was really nice and I had a lot of fun. The first night we were there we all went out for dinner at a place called Mad Anthony's. I had the most amazing pizza ever, got to meet "ME" (?) from Uvulapie's Girl, and made some new friends. It was a lot of fun and i had way too much Dr. Pepper. xD I was so hyper that night.
ANYWAYS, there were a few classes we were able to go to. I went to one about altar guild stuff and we also went to one about liturgy. On Friday, a missionary from Kenya who was getting a degree at the seminary, came to talk to us and that was pretty cool. On top of all that we had chapel services, yummy food, a LOT of Apples to Apples, xD and it was a lot fun. Friday there was even the "sort of annual" talent show. :]
I was originally going to leave Friday after dinner but there was a change of plans and I ended up getting to stay until Saturday morning. :D Thanks to Presbytera who felt like winding down instead of going out, I got to go to a Baroque music concert Friday night, which was rather nice.
SO HERES SOME PICTURES :D they looked better when they were bigger but oh well.
The doors and the inside of the chapel/sanctuary
Inside, dun dun DUN
At Redeemer, it was soooooo nice there.
Sunrise at the seminary
Night time at the seminary :]
it was so cold xD

We were all so tired by the end xD but it was so much fun
Aaaaand. Thats it as far as excitement goes, lol xD

I Don't Care
Fall Out Boy just released a single off their new album being released in December. They originally wanted to release it November 4th though but had to push it back. Pete Wentz has been as obvious as possible about his support for Barack Obama which bugged me. Ryan Cabrera pretty much became my hero when he said that he knew he had influence over people and his fans looked up to him so he refused to announce who he was voting for so as not to influence the decisions his fans made. So I wasn't really happy that Pete decided to make Obama t-shirts and pimp the dude but the song is awesome, Patrick Stump is amazing like always and its pretty funny.
I dont get the thing about the cat (edit: the cat part was cut out of this edition i guess. when they get to the part about the fascist the whole thing pauses and theres this picture of a cat o_O) or Sarah Palin.... but still xD I started laughing when I saw the end. Even if I dont get it xD Sorry I fail
But I like the song...

movie review: speed racer

Speed Racer
Starring: Emile Hirsch, John Goodman, Christina Ricci
Genre: Action/Sport/Family/Futuristic
Rating: PG
Age Level: family friendly
I give this movie six out of ten stars
Young Speed Racer has entered the world of stunt racing. It seems to run in his family. After losing his brother to a terrible crash, Speed picks up where Rex left off. After a bad experience with a big racing company, Speed teams up with some other racers to exploit some of the unethical things that have been going on behind the racing scene.
There are parts where its almost dizzying to watch because so much is happening. Its a futuristic family type movie so there are cheesy parts but it was a cute movie all in all and involved some pretty sweet Japanese dudes who looked like they walked out of an anime movie... But parts were rather predictable. Then again, it is a family movie sooo it has to appeal to the little kids too.

bulk movie review

Starring: Jim Sturgess, Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth
Genre: Drama/Based on a true story
Rating: PG-13
Age Level: teen/adult
I give this movie eight out of ten stars
A math genius MIT senior struggles with not dazzling Harvard enough to get a full scholarship. His math teacher at MIT realizes his talent and recruits him to a secret team of card counters. Weekends they don disguises and count cards while playing black jack in Vegas and split their winnings. But eventually casino security starts catching on to their scheme and they risk everything to get what they can.

VANTAGE POINT
Starring: Dennis Quaid, Matthew Fox,
Genre: Thriller/Action/Drama/Crime
Rating: PG-13
Age Level: teen/adult
I give this movie seven out of ten stars
The president of the United States is assassinated and you get to see it from several different points of view to put the pieces together yourself and figure out exactly what happened.
It did get slightly boring and it lost interest to a few members of our at-home audience but it was a really creative idea and i liked it.
I AM LEGEND

Starring: Will Smith
Genre: Fantasy/Future/Thriller/Horror/Sci-Fi
Rating: PG-13
Age Level: older teen/adult
I give this movie ten out of ten stars
Years after a plague kills most of humanity and transforms the rest into monsters, the sole survivor in New York City struggles valiantly to find a cure. (courtesy of IMDB because im somehow having a hard time with this xD)
IT HAS WILL SMITH IN IT. Its good.
MAMA'S BOY

Starring: Jon Heder, Diane Keaton, Jeff Daniels, Anna Faris
Genre: Comedy/Drama
Rating: PG-13
Age Level: family friendly
I give this movie six point five out of ten stars
Jefferey is in his late twenties. He works at a local book store, and he lives with his single mother. When his mother finally meets a man who she really connects with and falls in love with, Jeff has a lot of issues with that. After meeting a girl from a local coffee shop, together Jeff and his new found friend set off to tear the couple apart only to realize that Jeff had some issues all along.
Its not as funny as I thought it would be and there were some forced laughter bits but I still enjoyed it, it was a cute movie.

300
Starring: Gerard Butler, Lena Headey, David Wenham
Genre: Action/Drama/History
Rating: R
Age Level: older teen/adult
I give this movie seven out of ten stars
Gerard Butler and Co. run around ancient Greece,
Based on a true story, 300 takes on a different approach than most movies, and its given a comic-booky affect which was rather interesting.

movie reviews

HAROLD AND KUMAR GO TO WHITECASTLE
Starring: John Cho, Kal Penn
Genre: Comedy
Rating: Unrated
I give this movie 6 out of 10 stars
Harold and Kumar are two loser guys who share an apartment. Harold is the nerdy Asian guy who works for a stock broker and Harold is doctor's son, being pressured to get into medical school. So one evening Harold and Kumar are sitting around their apartment smoking weed and they get hungry. They see a commercial for Whitecastle and decide right then and there that that is where they are going and no other place will do. Along the way they encounter a lot of crazy stuff, guarenteed to have you cracking up.
Its not a good kids movie, at all. But it is pretty hilarious. If you can stand the crude humor and stuff, its funny. Not something I would watch again but surprisingly enough didn't leave me disapointed in the hour and a half i just wasted on a movie.

My Favorite Actors
I've been slacking off a lot on my movie reviews - I have a lot to catch up on. But while I'm working on those I decided to make a list of my favorite actors.
Fighting for the top spot are Will Smith and Johnny Depp. So lets start with Will Smith. When I see "Will Smith" in the cast list, I immediately know its going to be a good movie. So far, I have no seen a bad movie with Will Smith in it, he never ceases to bring it, no matter what kind of movie it is. Some Will Smith movies to check out are: I am Legend, The Pursuit of Happyness, I Robot, The Legend of Bagger Vance, and Hitch.
Johnny Depp is probably one of the most talented and diverse actors of our time. He's been in some not-so-great movies but he has also been in a wide variety of good movies, probably most well known for his recent part in Pirates of the Caribbean as Captain Jack Sparrow. Some other movies of his to check out include: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Finding Neverland, Chocolat, and Sleepy Hollow.
James McAvoy is relatively new to the popular movie scene but so far he has failed to disappoint. This Scotsman has mastered the British and American accents and is making a name for himself, starring with big names like Kiera Knightly, Anne Hathaway, and Angelina Jolie. Some good McAvoy flicks to see are: Wanted, Atonement, Becoming Jane, Penelope, and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The With and The Wardrobe.
Jim Sturgess is also relatively new on the scene but so far has proven to have potential. I've only seen two movies with him in it. The Other Boleyn Girl and 21. 21 was a great movie, but The Other Boleyn Girl was a dud. However he did his best with what he was given and was probably the best thing (next to the scenery) from that movie. I've also hear that Across The Universe is good but its based on Beatles songs which means I probably won't get to see it with my dad around ;] and its in the sixties or something so there's lots of drugs going on and its weird. I'm not sure, just reading the IMDB comments. But I have heard some of the sound track and Jim sings at least some of the songs himself and they sound really good.
Matt Damon is a great actor, both as the intense thriller star or the the dorky innocent guy. I haven't seen a lot of stuff with him in it either but I've enjoyed the Bourne serious including the Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy and the Bourne Ultimatum. According to IMDB, in 2010 there is going to be an Untitled Jason Bourne Project so hopefully that won't ruin the trilogy. It could either be very good, or ruin the whole thing, so I guess we'll see. He's also been in The Brother's Grimm, Oceans 11-13, The Legend of Bagger Vance, and even narrated for Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, go figure!
So there they are, :] my top five actors. Actresses are a lot more difficult but i'm sure I can come up with something, lol. Now I have to go work on those darned reviews.

save you from yourself
Today was my school picnic. I've been kind of looking forward to it for a while and this was one of the "high school hot spots" meaning it would feature a few high school teachers - and hopefully high school students. It was raining a lot today though, beautiful weather for a picnic.

We ended up getting lost and arrived half an hour late but we were just in time because shortly after we signed in they started the games they had planned. they split the kids up into groups - little kids and sixth through twelfth.
The first thing we did was the human knot. Everyone stands in a circle and reaches out and takes a hand. Eventually you have this giant knot of people all connected by hands and you have to use team work and communication to separate yourselves and form a circle again. That was kind of fun, so we did that a few times.

Next, the teacher put a folded piece of paper on the ground, after we were divided into teams. We had to have ONE person standing on the paper and no one else could touch the ground or touch anything touching the ground. Eventually someone figured out somebody stands on the paper and then we all jump in the air, lol.
After we did that, we had to form a line in an order that made sense without speaking to each other. Then we had to form a line by something other than height, etc. and we couldnt speak or move our arms. THEN we had to form a line by grade without speaking or moving our arms either. That one was tough because nobody knew what grade everyone else was in except for the few people who wrote it on their name tags.
Then we ate lunch.
Unlike OHDELA's picnic, they did not provide the food and as you can see it was a lot smaller. It also only lasted for a few hours rather than the whole day.
I AM SOCIALLY AWKWARD. Let's get that out of the way now, lol. For the veteran readers of my blog you should know I have a this problem with talking to people - especially girls my age - that I don't know or have no introduction to. It took me at least twenty minutes to actually go interupt my teacher's conversation to introduce myself and I talked to him for a while. Of course my mind went blank when he asked me who my teachers were and then he says "So do you have a lot of friends in OHVA?" BAHAHAHA. Thats funny.
So that was the easy part.
THEN i tackled the huge scary intimidating beast also known as TALKING TO GIRLS MY OWN AGE. dun dun DUN.
I dont know what it is that makes the idea of making the first move so intimidating to me >_<
Meanwhile the little kids were being loud and playing with a parachute.
It brought back memories from the good old days in gymnastics when i was three :]
I LOVED the parachute.
But anyways...
Tommorow I'm changing my link! Dont forget!

No.
I think I know 4 or 5 kids, two of which I've met in person, one I've known for at least two years, and two others who just added me on facebook for the heck of it xD So when he asked me which kids were my friends in History I kind of went "um..."So that was the easy part.
