Ski club today. In the rain and melting snow. The snow was actually really good. It was the rain that sucked. Everything was soaked.
But since I had to get up early all this week and for some reason half of my siblings were up at freaking six in the morning and woke me up, then after four hours of snowboarding in the rain I was really tired. I still am really tired actually... Luckily tomorrow is Saturday so hopefully I'll sleep in.
On Peter's Pride today, the next hill up from Buttermilk, experience wise, they had these GIANT jumps set up and rails and stuff it was pretty sweet. I am not insane, nor stupid enough to even try them. But it was cool to watch the people who actually have experience going over them. Those jumps were huge... Like 10-20 feet high. It was insane.
Today I played around with speed. I'm more comfortable now going fast and I dont feel like I'm out of control as much. When I do start to feel out of control I slow down... AND I rode switch (aka: fakie) a little bit today. Its not as confusing as it was at first but then again when we just started out I was pretty okay with it too... so. Its all good. Unfortunately the snow is melting, slowly but surely, and the rain isn't helping. So there's only a couple more weeks, if that.
I'm gonna miss it. But I won't miss the cold... if only there was a way to snowboard without the cold weather :P
I guess that would be called skateboarding huh? Thats gonna take forever... snow hurts less than cement does. And my feet arent connected, lol.

Caaaarving
Today I walked out the door and the first thing I did was slip and fall on some ice. Smooth. The snow was kind of weird today, at the bottom and tops of the slopes it was like sand almost. It was bizarre. But the slopes were still pretty good today, just fast enough but not completely ice. We went down a couple times before we had a lesson at 11:30.
The instructor was nice, he said he didnt know if we'd get our sticker that day... not to discourage us but he just didn't want to give us false hope... and I was okay with that. To get the next sticker, which is blue four, we have to be able to do J-turns, fakie. Meaning with our opposite foot forward. So Jake and I figured it out relatively quickly. The instructor had to keep reminding me to be patient and wait for my board so I worked on that. We got it eventually. Timmy had a little trouble. Then after we mastered the fakie stuff, we had to work on carving. He said it was kind of hard and thats why we might not get our sticker that day... he told us to try it and so we did. Then at the bottom of the hill he said "You guys were carving!" he was pretty surprised. So we got our sticker, except Timmy. He was having a bad day and not quite getting the J-turns down... the guy did some one on one with him while Jake and I practiced a little bit.
So then we went out on our own... the snow was falling and it hurt a lot, like little tiny grains of ice, so that was pretty painful. I also managed to get the rail almost every time i went for it... I just have to work on not falling at the end. I also managed to go over the jump but I kept falling too. So... we have to work on our fakie stuff and I want to work on not falling off the rails or the jump.
The guy was impressed that it was our first season snowboarding and we had as many stickers as we did so that was kind of cool. I have noticed I havent been falling as much and Im more comfortable going fast so... Im up for one more friday of cold weather, at least... :P Then it can start warming up...

Ski Club
Its that time of week again folks. :P
Ski club! Yay.
Today was perfect. It was snowing the first hour or two and the snow was so nice and fluffy. My board was perfect, AND they updated "The Park" which is a little section on Buttermilk where there are some rails and a jump. I managed to slide on my butt on a rail, and almost got it a couple other times but other than that, it didnt do so hot with the rails. But the jump was cool. Actually, the first time i went over it, I managed not to fall but I think I feel every other time after that... lol. But it was fun. What bugged me was the show offs who think they know everything. They kept taking turns when there were other people there first and stuff... I mean, yeah its cool you can do tricks off the jump but you don't have to be a jerk.
Other than that it was great. Nearer the end we hung out with Jake and his friend but Timmy and I were on our own for a while until Matt decided to hang out with us.
This is Matt:
He's in 8th grade. And he's pretty much the only person who talks to me... Actually he is the only other kid who really talks to me. Thats only because he talks to everyone... he actually ditched us for a while but he found Timmy and I again and went down a couple slopes with us. He talks pretty much all the time. lol...
What in the-? Pulling some Pete Wentz dance moves I guess. I tried to find a picture of Pete Wentz doing the dance but I couldnt... >_< aw well.

Just Not Feelin' It, Dawg
We went snowboarding today because we have free passes. Timmy has been bugging us about it all weekend. When we got there I discovered I'd forgotten my hat. Probably because little people happen to like my hat and so it never made it in the dryer with everything else -- it ended up out of the way in my room where it won't attract attention to little eyes. And apparently big ones too.
We got our stuff and went outside. And I felt kind of awkward on my board. It just wasn't right. So I messed around with the bindings to try and see if that would help and it was just weird. I didn't feel comfortable with it and I didn't like the way it felt. So I went to go see if I could get a new one. Apparently "I dont like it" isn't a good enough reason to get a new board. And neither is "Well, it just feels weird." Because "all the boards are exactly the same" even though its kind of obvious they aren't since I was perfectly fine with the board I had last week. But whatever. Now I was in a bad mood because I hated my board and they wouldn't give me a new one plus I got the hat with cat barf on it that was laying around the car.
Then we went up Buttermilk. Which is the next hill up from the little hill. And I kept falling because something was up with my stupid snowboard. Everytime I would try to go in a straight line it was start turning or something, or one of the edges would come up and I'd trip over a clump in the snow. And the snow was so thin it was like landing on the sidewalk. It sucked. So after falling on my rear a couple times I had to start turning when I fell because it hurt REALLY really badly to just fall down on my bottom. This led to trying to rip my arm out of it's socket three times and that really hurt too.
Next we tried Peter's Pride. Which is the next hill up without getting to the black hills.
It was fine. Except I kept falling when i would try to go in a straight line for too long... Which led to landing on my knees really hard. And ripping my arms out of their sockets some more. Jacob managed to convince me to try out North Bowl. Because Jacob is some kind of a pro and loves going down steep hills in straight lines at top speed. North Bowl was a bad idea. It doesn't look steep but it is so i went back over to Peter's Pride. Because I am not a pro, Im a wimp with a bad attitude and a board that outs to get me.
So I finally was ready to take a break, if not call it quits. Before I fell and broke my behind for life or was crippled by smashing in my knee caps. I wasn't having "a totally rockin' time dude!" it was just okay. But at least I mastered the art of turning. When i wasn't falling down. The best part of the whole thing was the fact that we forgot lunch so we got McDonalds.
I did a lot of this.
There I go again.
Thinking about turning...
trying. Oh man. Im gonna fall.

Do You Want To Learn To Fly?
Yesterday was a perfect day for snowboarding! It was just the right temperature (I left my jacket inside most of the time and just went out with my hoodie) and the snow was all nice and fluffy. Since Timmy and I still needed another sticker to technically move onto the next hill, my mom arranged a lesson for us. While we were waiting, however, I convinced Timmy to go over to the bigger hill. We went up it and were pretty surprised at how much bigger that hill was! lol, but it was easier to get off the lift and was more even at the top. Not only that, but they have "rails" to grind and a little jump. I managed to actually stay on one of the rails but I was afraid to go off the jump, lol. At the bottom it gets really steep though so I was imagining Timmy zooming down the hill past me and running into everyone. But he was smart, lol, and he knew what to do.
We got a lesson from a guy I knew. I was a little disappointed to be honest, because I don't really like the way he teaches. he was the guy from two weeks ago that didn't give me my sticker. Apparently he's better at teaching private lessons though. He was trying to explain twisting the board to me and after my first try he was like "That was just... beautiful!" lol! So I picked up on stuff a lot easier yesterday. I got the twisting thing down pretty well and Timmy got his toe-side turns down and we went over to the bigger hill for a run. We were supposed to work on linking more symmetrical turns. I did okay on the even part but when i slowed down I fell over. When we got to the steep part I did really great with the turns and the guy let me know my turns had just been beautiful! :P
So we ended up getting TWO stickers yesterday. W00t.
So all in all, it was a perfect day for snowboarding. We ended up staying out until 20 to 3, usually we leave around 2, lol. Unfortunately I left my camera at home so no pictures this week.

Ice, Ice, Baby!
Its Friday! Which meeeeaaans ski club! I was getting kind of scared with all the rain we've been having. It was pretty warm the past couple of days too so yeah.
Unfortunately with the rain and whatnot, the snow absolutely sucked today. It was hard and icey and my board kept getting stuck in grooves made by other boards so I kept falling. But I got the turning thing down! I had to work on linking my turns and today I finally got the feel, I know what I'm supposed to do. its all about moving the board with my feet and legs so I think I got it... but like I said, the snow sucked. And the guy wouldn't give me my sticker. I dont know why Jacob got a sticker because he can't do the turns either so... I'm a little confused about that but. Oh well.
Speaking of Jacob, since everyone else had left us to go on the big kid's hill, Jake turned into the social butterfly and is now best friends with everybody. I don't know how he does it really... I can't even ask the one kid what grade he's in. o_O So it was just Timmy and I on the kiddie hill. Which is fine, with that snow I wouldn't have wanted to try the bigger hill anyways. Plus I got some one on one. its really cool to actually get teachers you understand and who actually help you... the guy I ended up with in the end was just kinda... meh. He likes to talk things to death and THEN let you try them. AND he still didnt give me my sticker.

A Date With Gravity
Yay! Ski club day!
Today I think, in my humble opinion, that I did a lot better. The dinky baby hill was not as intimidating, and I got a lot better with my slides and turns and whatnot. But to get my next sticker I have to be able to go down on my toes, turn to go onto my heels and turn back on my toes all the way down the hill. Which I haven't been able to do yet.
But still, I managed to stop without falling over today, that was good. So I think I'm making good progress. Talked to a couple of the kids, yada yada.
I took a couple hard falls today and I'm really sore now, lol. Plus it was rainy and stuff so... yeah.
If I get my next sticker I can move on to the bigger hill. Wuh-oh. Lol.

Riding Goofy
I discovered I ride goofy. Yay!
That means right foot forward. But I ended up doing both today because the instructors cant really remember who's goofy or not so... i think thats good that I can go both ways.
Heres me. Standing... Im so cool :P
We learned A LOT today. I was really pleased. We worked on a ton of stuff too, it was cool.

We went UP to the top.
First time ever

Me riding down...
Me falling

Me almost running into people.
Going down the whole hill was a little unnerving. I wasnt sure what we were supposed to be doing and I kept falling over because I didnt want to go too fast.
This week more of the kids were a little more sociable too so that was cool to not have to sit out there awkwardly quiet waiting for my turn, lol. I w0uldnt call us best buddies but they acknowledged me at least.
So I got a lot better today. Except for the whole hill... the falling thing, lol.

Rippin' It Up
Or something.
I'm new at this snowboarding thing, sue me.
Today it was FINALLY cold enough for ski club!
Last time our instructors were really good, they were funny and helpful and I learned a lot with them. This time... this lady was just... well it was her first day. But still. She kept walking off to help everyone else (not our group) and so... we spent a lot of time sitting and waiting today. And there were so many kids in the group we didnt have a lot of time to do stuff by ourselves and she wasnt even paying attention to us so. Next week I'm avoiding her, lol.
thats me in the white coat.
actually standing up, lol
I like going straight down and being able to see where im going but i guess this is useful to know too. :P
We worked on sliding down with our boards on the side rather than the long way.
I did a lot of falling down today.
My knees are going to be killing me tommorow.
And teal is too dark a color for braces. in my opinion.
why did i choose teal again?
Its snowing!

Pink Fix
Well its almost February and February means valentine's day right? :P
I found this template and thought it was cute. I especially like the little hearts between posts. I also have a darker one for when I get tired of this one, lol. I wish I could figure out how to make my own template >_< Because I have a thing for hearts with wings and that would be a cool template. but anyways.
I get my braces on today.
Yay?
I'll post a picture later if I feel like it. x3
And it finally got cold enough for snowboarding tomorrow. :D
Doubleyay.

Dancing On the Snow
Today was our first snowboarding lesson!
We were all excited... we got our boots, got our boards, went out to where the instructors were. We had two guys teaching us. They were both really nice and really funny.
After about half the time was up though, more kids started showing up and so it was harder for all of us to keep practicing what we needed to practice... I couldn't quite get the toe-side turns down... so i never got a sticker. :( But probably next week I guess. I'm probably the only kid who didnt get a sticker... >_< But i went in for lunch when they started doing the other stuff so... yeah I dont know. But it was fun... kinda hard but I only fell down 95% of the time. lol. Then nearer to the end the instructors had to go teach some other kids so I still hadnt finished what i needed to do to get my sticker... without somebody telling me what to fix or what to do i was pretty lost and there were too many people around so I messed around for a little bit and called it quits. All the other kids had gone to the top of the slope so I guess I was the only one who didnt finish.... oh well.
-------
in other news i got my hair cut again and i still dont like it. it just looks. flat and... meh. of course ive been wearing a hat all day. but its still not the style i like.

thats one of the pictures i showed the lady
i wanted it like that only shorter, not past my shoulders...
i like it choppy like that and slanted...
but i cant get it to look like that
and sometimes it looks really weird
at least i think so.
so... i dont know.
plus i know absolutely nothing when it comes to hair... so i fail at teenage girl-dom.
